Chemical composition of Dolomite

Formula: CaMg(CO3)2

Name: Dolomite - natural calcium and magnesium carbonate. This mineral is named in honor of D. Dolomieu (1750 - 1801) - a French mineralogist and chemist, who discovered a new mineral during an expedition to the Alps. Lava containing up to 95% dolomite is also called Dolomite.

 Main features:

  • After firing, it is usually grayish-white in color.
  • Due to high CaO content, avoid storing in humid places.

Applications of Dolomite

In the steel industry, metallurgy

  • Dolomite is added to create slag.
  • Limit melting of furnace walls.
  • Desulfurization, Phosphorus
  • Heat preservation for liquid metal.
  • Protects liquid metal from oxidation.

In agriculture

  • Improve and stabilize the pH of the soil, reduce acidity, reduce alum, loosen the soil
  • Limit, inhibit the growth of insects, nematodes, fungi that damage the roots, help the roots grow healthy, antibacterial
  • Prevents plants from yellowing leaves, dropping young fruit, and fruit drooping due to lack of Calcium and Magnesium
  • Provide a full range of calcium, magnesium for soil and plants, helping plants to photosynthesize strongly, increase yield and product quality
  • Use on all crops, depending on soil pH. Amount of fertilizer: 150 - 250 kg/1000m2 Before or after chemical fertilizer application from 3 to 5 weeks

In the aquaculture industry

  • In the form of a powder, with a particle size of about 45 microns, it is used to treat aquarium water, create alkalinity for water, and provide macro and trace elements as feed in aquaculture.

Dolomite is used in the fertilizer industry

  • As an additive for fertilizers, treating soil contaminated with alum, creating alkaline and providing trace elements to the soil.
